Overthrown Has Received the Coastal Update Today

New Features Await in Overthrown

Maximum Entertainment has released the third major content update for Overthrown, the chaotic co-op city builder currently available in Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview. This follows the Nature Update, which came out back in March of this year.

Known for its wild physics and unpredictable antics, Overthrown challenges players to launch everything from houses and trees to unsuspecting citizens into the sky, all in pursuit of building the kingdom of their dreams.

The latest Coastal Update brings fresh challenges and tools to the mayhem. Chief among them are the Snappers, aggressive piranha-like creatures with legs that spawn in coastal waters. These relentless enemies do not stay by the shore for long, as they can swarm inland areas and disrupt player kingdoms. However, there are new weapons and vehicles to fend them off. Players can now deploy the Fishing Boat, equipped with both a harpoon and underwater tesla coils, or take advantage of the Spear, a versatile weapon that doubles as a tool for underwater combat, jousting, and even pole vaulting across terrain.

A new lock-on camera system also refines combat, offering smoother melee encounters through optional enemy tracking. Alongside these improvements, the game world continues to grow with the addition of new plant life. Seaweed, kelp, cattails, tall grass, and saplings not only expand the coastal landscape but also provide valuable crafting resources and new opportunities for stealth.

Currently playable through Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview, Overthrown is also available from day one on Xbox Game Pass. The full 1.0 release is planned for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5, promising an even more expansive kingdom-building experience.
