Lab42 Games, in partnership with indie publisher Secret Mode, has announced A Storied Life: Tabitha. It is a reflective puzzle game that blends thoughtful packing mechanics with interactive storytelling. It will be coming out on PC in early 2026.
In the game, players step into the home of someone recently deceased, discovering a ruined memoir alongside a letter from a publisher eager for a story. By sorting through the belongings left behind, players decide which objects and which memories are worth preserving. Each choice shapes how you will remember the departed’s life.
Every room is full of keepsakes, furniture, and hidden items. Players must select what to keep, sell, or discard, placing belongings into boxes and using bubble wrap and tape to protect fragile mementos. The process is both practical and emotional, as every item carries a piece of the story waiting to be told.
Once you pack a room, the narrative begins to unfold. Each item offers words that you weave into the memoir, with different combinations branching the story in new directions. Your decisions shape whether others remember the character as a devoted parent, a solitary dreamer, or a vibrant eccentric. The outcome is up to you, though publishers might frown if your version strays too far from coherence.
A Storied Life: Tabitha marks a new original project from Lab42 Games, a studio known for collaborations with Secret Mode on titles such as A Little to the Left and Wobbledogs Console Edition.
