No More Spamming Jump Button in Battlefield 6
DICE is rolling out key movement adjustments for Battlefield 6 ahead of launch, addressing feedback from the beta. Players who relied heavily on jumping will now find diminishing returns in place as consecutive jumps lower in height. While the momentum gained from sliding into a jump has been tuned to reduce speed. Despite the tweaks, principal game designer Florian “DRUNKKZ3” Le Bihan emphasized that the changes are “not drastic”.
“Movement is also getting more responsive in general in places that have felt a bit clunky before. so there is a lot more that is getting quality improvements [and] polish in this same area,” Le Bihan wrote on X. “Adding diminishing returns to jumping is what we’re actually doing, an initial slide or an initial jumps will not be affected. We’re still trying to retain depth to movement with some skill curve to it, just making sure it doesn’t become insane.”
Beyond movement, there are other adjustments as well. Rush mode, a long-standing fan favorite, will feature smaller 12v12 matches instead of larger lobbies. Developers stated that the mode simply does not scale well with more than 24 players at once, and the change will make the gameplay balanced and enjoyable.
Weapons are also seeing refinements. The developers rebalanced the M87A1 shotgun, the overpowered weapon during testing. Players will now need more pellets to score a kill, ensuring fairer combat encounters.
The beta itself proved a massive success for the franchise. According to EA, it was the largest in Battlefield history, with research firm Oppenheimer estimating participation at over 20 million players.
This news follows the recent map leak through datamine, which teased two unreleased maps, Eastwood and Mirak Valley.
