Lead Your Species in HARD VOID
After a year of development, solo indie developer jejoxdev has launched the demo for HARD VOID, a 4X turn-based space strategy game that mixes classic sci-fi gameplay with cosmic horror. Inspired by games like Master of Orion and Stellaris, HARD VOID puts players in control of a species aiming to expand across galaxies and dimensions while facing unimaginable threats hidden in the void.
Set in a Lovecraftian universe, HARD VOID lets players explore space, conquer star systems, and confront ancient horrors. Players can design their own spaceships with a deep customization system. They can choose from systems like laser cannons, nuclear missiles, and fusion reactors. A powerful procedural generator creates up to 18 trillion possible ship hulls based on player input, making every ship design unique.
Combat unfolds through turn-based strategy, where players command hundreds of ships in large-scale space battles. To expand their empires, players use a variety of faster-than-light travel methods, including warp travel, subspace movement, and wormholes. They can colonize planets, asteroid fields, and even open space, pushing into new regions and alternate dimensions.
But expanding an empire comes with danger. Beyond rival species, players will encounter terrifying, unknowable creatures that test the limits of strategy and survival. These horrors wait in the vast dark void, ready to challenge everything players have built.
HARD VOID will launch in late 2025 for PC on both Windows and Linux. The demo is available now and offers a first look at a universe where tactical depth meets the terror of the unknown.
