Get Ready to Survive in Fear Below Zero
Indie horror game developer Corsgames, known for the viral hit Waffle Cone Willie, has announced Fear Below Zero. It is a new first-person survival horror game that takes place in a remote Antarctic research station. Trapped in Erebus Station near Mount Erebus, players must survive both the subzero climate and a terrifying prehistoric predator awakened after 90 million years in ice.
“After Waffle Cone Willie’s viral success, I wanted to create something that captured that same sense of helpless dread but on a much larger scale,” said Corey, founder of Corsgames. “Fear Below Zero strips away all player agency in combat while amplifying every other survival horror element – you’re cold, hunted, and completely vulnerable. It’s designed to make players feel genuinely afraid.”
Staying true to pure survival horror, Fear Below Zero offers no combat mechanics. Players rely solely on stealth, light management, and careful use of sound to avoid the intelligent predator, leaving themselves defenseless. Inspired by Alien: Isolation and Amnesia: The Bunker, the game introduces a dynamic threat system where every action can draw the creature’s attention.
The Antarctic setting adds another layer of tension. Players must monitor body temperature and gather scattered resources in freezing, high-risk zones to repair critical communications equipment. Environmental storytelling plays a key role, with notes, recordings, and visual clues. All these reveal the station’s haunting secrets and the origins of its monstrous inhabitants.
Fear Below Zero builds on Corsgames’ growing reputation for atmospheric horror. Following the unexpected success of Waffle Cone Willie, which captured millions of views through streamers and social media, this new title marks a major step forward in both ambition and production.
The game will be released on PC via Steam in December 2025 at $15.99. Players can now wishlist it on the Steam store.
