Find Out What’s Cooking in The Apocalypse
Indie developer Team Apocalypse has shared the first official development update for The Apocalypse, its upcoming sandbox survival game set in a bleak, zombie-ravaged world. Designed with a distinctive low-poly look, the game blends exploration, scavenging, crafting, combat, and base building, combining core survival elements while aiming to keep the overall experience more approachable and less time-intensive.
Currently in early production, The Apocalypse introduces several promising features. Survival staples like hunger, thirst, stamina, and crafting systems are already underway, alongside shelter building and a working resource loop. Combat is also a focus, with both melee and ranged options supported by a dynamic zombie AI that includes basic and special infected types exhibiting patrol and group behavior.
The open-world prototype features a variety of environments including forests, abandoned structures, and road systems, all under a functional day-night cycle. The game will support both PvE and PvP servers, letting players choose between peaceful cooperation or competitive territory battles, complete with raid mechanics.
Vehicles will play a key role in traversal and logistics, with plans for crafting, fueling, and customization. Social features like team chat and guild systems are also being built to support community-driven play.
With its recent move from prototype to full production, The Apocalypse is preparing for closed Alpha testing in Q3 2025. You can sign up for it right here.
Driven by a small but dedicated team, the project promises a compact yet layered survival experience. Future development blogs will dive deeper into long-term systems such as base building, vehicle upgrades, and character progression. So, stay tuned for more updates.
