An Epic Journey Awaits in Misspell
Bones Keeper Studio has announced Misspell, a 2D Metroidvania that the indie team has been quietly developing for several months. Now, the game is nearing its first playable demo, offering players an early opportunity to experience its rich, hand-crafted world.
“Misspell began as a dream — one that took root long before we even had a computer to build it on. At first, it was just a simple arcade idea, but the deeper we went, the clearer it became: we weren’t just making a game — we were building a world we wanted to live in,” says Evgenii, one of the developers at Bones Keeper Studio. “It’s a coming-of-age story — both for the heroine, and for us.”

The story unfolds on the remote island of Melanor, a place where vibrant landscapes hide the scars of an ancient magical disaster. As players explore the island, they gradually uncover its forgotten past, grow their magical abilities, and influence its future through meaningful choices.
Players take on the role of a young heroine who wakes up with no memory. Her only companion is a sentient magical vine wrapped around her arm. This living thread serves as her weapon, her tool, and her connection to the island’s lost magic. As the journey continues, players can evolve the vine’s powers to open new paths, solve environmental challenges, and retrieve hidden relics scattered across Melanor.
With its focus on exploration, storytelling, and progression, Misspell blends emotional depth with classic Metroidvania gameplay. Bones Keeper Studio plans to release the first demo soon. It will give players a chance to step into a beautifully crafted world shaped by ancient magic and personal discovery.
