Darkest Dungeon II Is Getting a Free Update Called ‘Curse of the Court’

A New Story Is Coming to Darkest Dungeon II

Red Hook Studios has officially announced Curse of the Court, the third and final adventure module in the Kingdoms mode of Darkest Dungeon II. Launching on August 28 for PC and Mac, the update will arrive on consoles at a later date.

Curse of the Court brings back the vampiric Bloodsuckers, the enemy faction first seen in The Crimson Court DLC for the original game. This new module also features three fresh Kingdoms maps, a brand new questline, and achievements. It will also feature a unique Curse mechanic that adds another layer of challenge to gameplay.

Creative Director Chris Bourassa described the update as a generous addition to the growing world of Darkest Dungeon II, calling it a free update packed with items, mechanics, and a host of fresh horrors.

The Kingdoms mode reimagines the game’s structure. It shifts from the original Confessions mode to one where players must protect the realm and a network of inns. Each adventure module introduces its own enemy faction and gameplay elements.

Alongside the update, Red Hook Studios and Skybound Games have revealed the Darkest Dungeon II Anniversary Edition. This physical release will be coming out in Q4 2025 for Switch and PS5. It will include a collectible Steelbook, pop-up diorama, papercraft stagecoach, playable deck of cards, original soundtracks, and redemption codes for several DLCs.

With the final Kingdoms chapter approaching, the game continues to expand its brutal and atmospheric world with style and substance.
