Acclaim is Back in Business
A blast from the past is back. Straight out of the 80’s and 90’s this revived publisher is back now in 2025 with a plan to revitalize the industry and IPs. Today, a team of gaming industry veterans announced the revival of beloved publisher, Acclaim. Founded originally in 1987, the publisher is responsible for IPs such as Mortal Kombat, Turok, and NBA Jam on home consoles. Now Acclaim is back with a key goal to resurrect and revitalize this portfolio of classic IP. Yet, in addition to their own portfolio, the publisher is looking to support indie developers through funding, marketing and PR support. A press release provides more details on the revival of Acclaim. Additionally, the release gives insights from the CEO industry veteran Alex Josef.
“It’s an absolute honor and pleasure to be leading the charge in bringing Acclaim back to the forefront of the games industry,” says Josef in the release, “We’re fortunate that we have an extremely talented team and that we’ve already signed some incredible indie titles, which we’ll be revealing soon.”
The relaunch of Acclaim is accompanied by a host of gaming and entertainment veterans. For instance, Russell Binder at Striker Entertainment, Mark Caplan at Ridge Partners and Two-time Hall of Fame wrestler Jeff Jarrett, Jeff Jarrett at Global Force Entertainment all make up Acclaim’s advisory board. Furthermore, the publisher’s growth strategy also features key partners Phil Toronto, Partner at VaynerFund, and Eric Vogel, Partner at JET Management.
Of course, with the backing of all of this talent, Acclaim’s leadership spans the entertainment industry. In fact, licensing icons, professional athletes, living music legends and seasoned veterans all provide their skills and insights to the company.
Acclaim will provide more information on the company and indie titles under them soon.
