NieR: Automata Has Sold Over 9 Million Copies Worldwide

Another Milestone for NieR: Automata

Square Enix and PlatinumGames’s awesome action role-playing game, NieR: Automata has surpassed another sales milestone. It has finally sold more than nine million copies in total shipments and digital sales all around the world.

The game originally came out on PlayStation 4 and PC in 2017. The following year, it received an Xbox One port. The Switch version, ‘The End of YoRHa Edition‘ arrived in 2022. It was announced in February of this year that the game had sold eight million copies. Now, in just 10 months, the game has reached a whole new level.

In an end-of-year interview with 4Gamer.net, NieR producer Yosuke Saito reflected on the series reaching another major milestone in 2025, which marks its 15th anniversary. He hinted at exciting possibilities, mentioning his hopes to work on the “next game” or explore related developments. While keeping details under wraps, he encouraged fans to stay tuned and look forward to what the future holds for the beloved series.

This is what he said (Thanks to Gematsu):

“2025 will be a milestone year as it marks the 15th anniversary of the NieR series, so I’d like to do something for it! What should we do… maybe something with the next game, or developments related to that… I’ve been hearing the fans’ expectations. It’s a bit tricky, though… That said, as I’ll likely be doing less direct work as a producer, I’d appreciate it if you could patiently look forward to what’s coming.”
