A Huge Success for Detroit: Become Human
Quantic Dream has announced that Detroit: Become Human has now surpassed 15 million units sold worldwide across PlayStation 4 and PC. The achievement highlights the game’s lasting popularity and its continued influence in the genre, years after its original release.
Launched in May 2018, Detroit: Become Human takes place in a near-future society. In this place, lifelike androids serve humans as everyday tools and laborers. Although they look, speak, and behave like humans, society treats them as property. That is, until some androids begin to develop self-awareness and question their place in the world. Through this premise, the game actively explores themes of choice, empathy, freedom, and the meaning of humanity.
Critics and players widely praised the title for its cinematic presentation, branching narratives, and high-stakes decision-making. These elements strongly resonated with audiences and helped the game redefine expectations for narrative-driven experiences in the medium.

Reflecting on the milestone, Quantic Dream President and Writer/Director David Cage noted that the game continues to bring players together more than seven years after release. He emphasized that what began as a reflection on humanity and moral choice has evolved into a shared journey for millions worldwide, crediting the community for its enduring support.
Guillaume de Fondaumière, CEO and Head of Publishing at Quantic Dream, echoed these sentiments. He also stated that the game’s sustained success across platforms, generations, and regions demonstrates the lasting power of emotionally driven storytelling that encourages players to reflect long after the experience ends.
