The Callisto Protocol Update Adds Dismemberment Mode

Cut Off Their Limbs!

Today, a new content update launches for The Callisto Protocol. Update 5.01 contains a couple of new features. One is a significant quality of life improvement, and the other adds some familiar gameplay flair. The big ticket item for the game today is Dismemberment Mode.

One of the big points of comparison to the Dead Space remake was that Striking Distance Studios is made up of many developers of the original Dead Space. Of course there are many visual and gameplay similarities between the two games. If you like the feel of Dead Space more than The Callisto Protocol, Dismemberment Mode might bring the two closer together.

Unfortunately, as of right now, there is no detailed patch notes for update 5.01. A short trailer shows off the goods though. Enemies can now have their arms, legs, and various appendages lopped off. They will still stagger and crawl their way over to you. This could make a Contagion Mode run easier.

It should be noted that achievements and trophies cannot be unlocked while Dismemberment Mode is active. At least things will be easier and faster. Speaking of speed, the other quality of life update now allows for skippable cutscenes. This feature should be included in all games, especially the cutscene-heavy ones, but at least we have it now.

The Callisto Protocol is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
