Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Coming to Switch and PlayStation, Not Xbox

Master of Pixels

The Final Fantasy series is older than a lot of gamers out there. It had a heavy hand in shaping RPGs as we know them today. However, many of us haven’t played the early games. You don’t need to buy a NES or SNES because they are coming out on newer platforms in Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series.

The remastered collection was first released on PC and mobile devices over the course of 2021-22. Square Enix has now announced that all six games in Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster will be coming out at the same time later this month for Nintendo Switch and PS4.

The announcement of this release is notably sans-Xbox. While Square Enix has not directly addressed why, there is a trend of Square Enix skipping Xbox when it comes to Final Fantasy releases. Some absences can be attributed to Sony’s timed exclusive deals, but with Nintendo Switch in the mix, it’s hard to nail down a reason this time.

If you purchase any of these games on Nintendo Switch before May 25th, 2023, you will get two wallpapers for your corresponding game. Buy all of them to have all 12 wallpapers.

PlayStation owners have a similar deal. Any of the games in the Pixel Remaster bundle will get you a Theme and Avatar, if purchased before May 25th, 2023. A total of six Themes and six Avatars are available.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is available now on PC and mobile devices. It will be coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch on April 20th.
