Decades of Pixels in Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Anniversary Edition

Pixel Perfect

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster will be coming to Nintendo Switch and PS4 this month. Just like the PC version, this bundle includes Final Fantasy I – VI, but with this release, Switch and PlayStation owners can get physical copies. They can also get the FF35th Anniversary Edition, if you want all the goodies.

All games in the collection have updated 2D pixel graphics. They also have options to change between the remastered soundtracks and the original scores. There are two styles of fonts to choose from, which has been added in response to the PC version. Players can also turn off random encounters, as well as increase the game speed to up to 4x normal speed.

The FF35th Anniversary Edition comes with a bunch of physical items. The Goods Box includes a two-disc vinyl record set of the soundtracks, as well as a download code for MP3s. It also comes with a 128-page Pixel Art hardcover book and pixel figurines of 8 iconic characters. All of this is packaged in a beautiful Anniversary Box.

The Goods Box does not actually contain the physical copy of the game. Your copy of Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster will be shipped with the Goods Box, but not actually inside. It will come with a game box sleeve.

Here comes the bad news. While the games are over 30 years old in most cases, the collection will cost $75, and that’s just the standard edition. The FF35th Anniversary Edition will cost $260. Do you know how much Gil that is?!

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is available now on PC and mobile devices. It will be coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch on April 20th.
