Development of Apex Legends Mobile Grinds To A Halt In Early May
Respawn Entertainment along with Electronic Arts are two powerhouses in the industry. The company has been working on Apex Legends, a battle royale, for some years. More than one year ago, the companies released Apex Legends Mobile. Unfortunately, today, the companies have announced that the game’s service will be grinding to a halt on May 1st, 2023. The game launched on iOS and Android devices on May 17th, 2022.
Via its official press release, Respawn Entertainment stated, We have made the painful decision to sunset Apex Legends Mobile. This decision does not come with ease. Factors beyond our control have prevented us from maintaining the high-quality experience and content that our players deserve. As a result, the game will sunset on May 1, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. PT after which it will no longer be playable. Our gratitude to our players and teams for joining us on Apex Legends Mobile, even if for a short while, is unending. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you”
The announcement has come as a shock to gaming fans, who noticed that Respawn Entertainment was pouring content into the game, including hero releases and maps. Furthermore, mobile gaming is usually a lucrative industry, with Fortnite and other titles making billions of dollars. The decision to close the service is a surprise for many, as the game seemed to have been successful.
