A New Title In Sid Meier’s Civilization Franchise Is In Development

Sid Meier’s Civilization is one of the most popular franchises in video game history. Often times, players hop into the game for an hour and end up missing some sleep as the cycle of days and nights go by. Today, Firaxis Games along with 2k have announced that a major title in the Sid Meier’s Civilization franchise is currently in development. However, besides the announcement, the developers have announced major changes to Firaxis, particularly to head management.

Ed Beach will continue to be creative director behind the Civilization franchise as he has been an integral part of the development process for the past fifteen years. Furthermore, Steve Martin will leave the studio after twenty-five years and Firaxis’ Chief Operating Officer, Heather Hazen, will replace him. Moreover, Heather Hazen noted, “I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to carry on the studio’s storied legacy, beginning with the announcement that Firaxis is in development on the next iteration of the legendary Civilization franchise.”

Additionally, Jake Solomon, the creative director behind Marvel’s Midnight Suns and the iconic XCOM franchise, will leave the studio after twenty years. As he takes his leave, Solomon stated, “I’m thankful to everyone who enjoyed XCOM and Marvel’s Midnight Suns, and to my development and publishing partners who helped bring those games to life.” Also, despite the changes, it is clear that the company is in good hands.
