Dom, You’re Blocking My Shots!
Gears of War has been an iconic series for Xbox ever since it debuted on the 360 in 2006. It has also been a favored consideration for a video game-based film adaptation. After 16 years, Gears developer The Coalition has found a way to make it happen.
Just a few years ago, The Coalition was in talks with Universal to create a Gears of War movie. However, talks fell through and the project was shelved again. For the 16th anniversary of the series’ launch, The Coalition has revealed which studio they have partnered with: Netflix.
It also seems that there Netflix and The Coalition have a multi-project partnership. Not only will they create a live-action feature film, but they have also announced an animated series. The film and animated series will be connected, much like The Witcher series and Nightmare of the Wolf, also made by Netflix.

Perhaps no one has been a bigger advocate for a Gears of War film than Dave Bautista has been. However, neither The Coalition nor Netflix has made any announcement regarding casting. Now would be his chance if he ever got one.
If those more interested in Gears 6, there is no new news from The Coalition regarding that. Gears 5 is available now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
