Second Extinction Fully Launches Later This Year

If You Thought One Extinction Was Bad…

For a couple of years, Second Extinction has been kicking around in early access on PC and Xbox. Earlier this week, developer Systemic Reaction announced the release date for the 1.0 update. Players will soon be dino-slaying for the betterment of mankind.

If this game has flown under your radar, the premise of Second Extinction is that the Earth has been overrun by dinosaurs. Humanity has long since left Earth, but now they are back. These aren’t your grandfather’s dinosaurs either; they have evolved to become even more dangerous than we have seen in the movies.

Players can drop down to Earth into different areas with up to two friends. As your team completes objectives, the threat level of that area will decrease, making things a little bit safer. The game is designed for squad play, so it might be more difficult if you are playing solo.

There are a lot of different weapons and tools of destruction for players to use. There are some standards, like shot guns and machineguns. Some more experimental weapons include guns that fire electrocution webs that damage and stun dinos. Some of the predators have also evolved some elemental attacks of their own to offset some of humanities technological advances.

Second Extinction is currently in early access on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The game will fully launch on October 20th.
