CoD: Warzone 2 Could Feature Highly Anticipated DMZ Mode
Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s ESRB rating suggests that the game could launch with the highly anticipated DMZ mode. According to the rating, players will have the opportunity to “engage in a variety of multiplayer combat events.” The samples that it cited were battle royale and “plunder-style skirmishes” which is more popularly known as DMZ.
This is actually the first time that Call of Duty: Warzone 2 fans had a reference to the DMZ mode. DMZ is actually a mode that takes inspiration from Escape from Tarkov. It will reportedly place players in bigger maps. Due to its massive size, every one will have to work to find loot spots and successfully extract it while trying to avoid getting hit by rival teams.
Initially, the CoD community thought that DMZ was going to be part of Modern Warfare 2. However, the game’s ESRB listing did not mention it. This also further implied that devs were going to implement the feature to Call of Duty: Warzone 2 instead.
Activision has managed to keep mum when it came to Warzone’s sequel. However, they revealed to the gaming public earlier this year that they were going to build it “from the ground up.” They also promised that the next installment will boast of “groundbreaking innovations.”
Furthermore, many sources have claimed that Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is going to be more similar to Blackout than to the original Warzone game. Blackout is the battle royale moded of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Now that the game has an official ESRB rating, fans are hoping to get more information about the sequel soon. In fact, many are expecting a big announcement at Call of Duty Next. This is a new event that is due to air on September 15th.
