Prince of Persia; The Sounds of Time Remake Isn’t Coming Out in FY23
Prince of Persia: The Sounds of Time Remake has been delayed multiple times already. Devs originally announced the game in 2020 with a 2021 launch schedule. However, Ubisoft decided to delay its release to 2022. Eventually, for some reason, they furthered the delay to 2023. Now, they had just confirmed that they are “no longer targeting a FY23 release.”
This recent statement from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake devs was apparently prompted by rumors that they cancelled the game all together. Fans of the game noticed that Amazon and Gamestop stopped taking preorders for the game and delisted it for certain platforms.
The gaming community is well aware that the game has had its struggles. However, multiple fans have observed that the timing of the rumored cancellation is a bit strange. The rumor made waves on the Internet shortly after Ubisoft’s announcement. Devs transferred development to Ubisoft Montreal from its studios in Mumbai and Pune. This change has pushed fans to believe that devs have not left the project in the dust after all.
“We are proud of the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai,” devs said. “Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their learnings as the new team will continue the work to deliver a great remake.”
Because of this transition, devs have informed Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake fans that the game is not going to release as scheduled. “As a consequence, we are no longer targeting a FY23 release anymore,” devs continued. “The game has been delisted.”
They want fans who have already pre-ordered the game that they can cancel their transaction by contacting their retailer. “They will be updated on the project as the development is moving along,” they added.
