Summer Game Fest is now confirmed for June 2022 and will be taking place online as well as at special IMAX screenings.
Geoff Keighley has confirmed the official date of Summer Game Fest to be taking place on June 9, 2022, at 11 am PT and 2 pm ET. The event will, as usual, be streamed on YouTube so games can watch it from the comfort of their homes if they so choose.
Gamers who crave a more immersive experience will be happy to know the event will also be screened in select IMAX theaters for what is described as a “full-scale immersion”. Keighley has also confirmed that 2022’s Game Awards will also have IMAX screenings in December.

The IMAX screenings will of course feature all the same reveals, announcements, and surprises of the event’s online stream, but in a more immersive environment. Keighley describes it as the future of decentralized global events.
“With Summer Game Fest we are building a next-generation global event — decentralized physical events for the community in IMAX, big showcases from us + partners, play at home content, and much more! This is the future and it feels good….we are just getting started!”
There is no telling what reveals to expect in this event, but the trailer shows multiple fan-favorite titles such as WB Montreal’s Gotham Knights, PlayStation’s Horizon Forbidden West, Bethesda’s Starfield, Epic Games’ Fortnite, and many more.
Summer Game Fest 2022 will take place on June 9th, and fans can either watch it for free on YouTube and Twitch or at special IMAX screenings.
