Jim Ryan Promises Diverse Offering for PlayStation Plus Library

PlayStation Plus Will Have a Diverse Line-Up

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s president and CEO, Jim Ryan, has come forward to reassure fans that PlayStation Plus library will include “big name” games that will make the subscription service worth having.

The remark came during Jim Ryan’s appearance on the official PlayStation podcast when he was asked what games the subscription service will include when the new tiers system is introduced.

While Jim Ryan chose not to name specific games, he promised that they’re working with numerous big and small publishers to bring a quality line-up to the service. He also emphasizes that the service will not only focus on larger and well-known titles but will also focus on a “wide selection of developers”.

“I’m going to play a little hard to get on that one, but I can tell you freely that we have massive publisher participation in this program. We have all the big names present,” Jim Ryan said. “We have big publishers, we have small indie publishers. We have over 200 partners working with us to put their content into PlayStation Plus, so the lineup is going to be really strong.”

In an effort to compete with Game Pass, PlayStation has recently unveiled its updated subscription service model, to include three various tiers to satisfy all segments of their audience. The basic $9.99 tier still exists for both existing and new subscribers, on top of that there are going to be two new tiers with different benefits, Extra and Premium.

The PlayStation Plus new model is already announced to have top-tier games such as God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Death Stranding, Returnal, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

It is worth noting that PlayStation has made it official that the service, unlike Game Pass, will not include any of PlayStation’s first-party titles on launch on any of the new tiers.
