Sounds Like 2022 Will Be a Big Year for Hideo Kojima Fans
It’s probably safe to say that 2021 was a tough year for most of us. This sentiment was echoed in some of Hideo Kojima’s tweets to end the year. Kojima reiterated the toughness of the past year, and how the team behind Death Stranding’s director’s cut was able to still persevere and have a successful year.
However, Kojima quickly turned his attention to the new year and its exciting possibilities. These possibilities may come in three distinct new projects.
While experiencing a challenging and unprecedented time this past year developing, Kojima also noted how they spent some time experimenting with other titles. Notably, the renowned video game designer stated he is going to start working on a “new work in earnest” on some sort of “radical” project.
What could this new work be? There have been rumours surrounding a new Xbox game, with Kojima purportedly working with Microsoft to publish. In this tweet, Kojima also included the brand new artwork that featured never-before-seen characters. While this could be a tease for something else under the broad umbrella of Kojima Productions, many are speculating this relates to a new video game property.
In addition, Kojima referenced getting his video team going. This follows an announcement last November that Kojima Productions would be opening a new division in Los Angeles. This studio is solely focused on music, television and film production. Riley Russell, who held various roles at PlayStation, is the head of this new division. This new studio’s first project is still unknown.
Finally, Kojima also hinted at a possible radio project this year. What that will entail remains to be seen, but is nonetheless very interesting. 2022 already promises to be an exciting year for Kojima and video game fans alike. Which project are you most excited about?
