The STALKER 2 Metaverse Is a Thing I Guess

STALER 2 Metaverse is Stupid

The STALKER 2 metaverse is a thing now, I guess, and there is nothing I can do about it. Of all games, STALKER is not one I anticipated joining the blockchain to some stupid stuff, but here we are. All this has managed to do is kill any excitement I had for the game.

Well, the devs behind STALKER have teamed up with DMarket. All you need to know about them is that they are a market for NFT trading. Yes, they are going that route.

Evgeniy Grygorovych, CEO of GSC Game World, had this to say:

“Considering the global trends in gaming, we can do more than just offer an immersive game experience. Our players can get a deeper presence in the game, and we will give them this opportunity by presenting the first AAA game with a unique meta experience.”

Starting this month, players can register item drops that GSC Game World claims will evolve into new gaming features. The first drop will take place in January 2022. The first drop will involve a metahuman? This metahuman will appear as an NPC in the game.

Apparently, this is some unique thing that you absolutely can’t do without the blockchain. Nope. This has never, ever been done before. Sorry, my sarcasm is leaking nonstop by how stupid this all is.

Vlad Panchenko, CEO and co-founder at DMarket, had this to say:

“Video game developers worldwide are expressing their intentions in using the blockchain and other beneficial technologies while GSC is already there. The company is adding a unique layer and bringing their game to a whole new level into the global  Metaverse and Web 3.0 dimension. With the joint efforts of GSC and DMarket, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will become a game of the future and a game for the community.”

None of this is unique. None of this needs blockchain technology. Devs, just do a cool giveaway. Do literally anything other than this.
