Spiritfarer Goes out With a Bang
Thunder Lotus’ loveable management sim Spiritfarer is getting its third and final update next week. The update, titled The Jackie and Daria Update, is coming to Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC on December 13th. The update is completely free for everyone.
Spiritfarer is a story driven, management simulation indie game with a full cast of loveable characters and a whimsical premise. The story is about a girl named Stella who takes over Charon’s job (the spiritfarer in Greek Mythology) of delivering spirits to the afterlife. Stella does this by transporting them on her ferry that the player can upgrade and build up. The gameplay involves a mix of elements from many genres such as time management, 2D-platformers and adventure games.
The Jackie and Daria Update is the third and final update for Spiritfarer. It will also be the game’s biggest update. It includes a brand new island, two new spirits, a new platforming event and new upgrades to the ferry. The new island features a run down hospital with the new spirits Jackie and Daria. Thunder Lotus hasn’t given out a lot of information about the story of this update yet. However, we do know that Jackie is Daria’s caretaker at the hospital, and Stella must work to rebuild the hospital to its former glory.
Spiritfarer’s Creative Director Nicolas Guérin gave a statement on the upcoming update. “We’ve saved the best for last! The team was unanimous in their desire to make the game’s final update something special, and I feel they’ve really pulled out all the stops here. The Jackie and Daria Update is a lovely curtain call for Spiritfarer as well as a great show of gratitude to the fans who’ve supported us since the day we announced the project . We hope they enjoy taking one final voyage with us!”
