With Help of Future Friends Games, Omno Is Set to Release on Nintendo Switch
It’s always nice to hear about Indie games getting a highlight. And one game, in particular, is getting a bit of a boost, thanks to Future Friends Games. Omno, an indie game, is going onto Nintendo Switch on December 16th, 2021. This game was previously released last summer on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, but there was surprisingly no release on the Nintendo Switch- until now.
Omno was developed over the course of five years by Jonas Manke, also known as Studio Inkyfox. While this game development had previously been a hobby, it soon grew into something more. And with the help of Kickstarter in 2018, Omno was able to become something others could play.
“It has been really magical seeing Omno go out into the real world as a published game,” said Jonas Manke, creator of Omno. “With this Switch port, I hope it will reach a whole new group of people who will now get to experience this very personal story.”
And this isn’t a game that’s geared towards combat either. This is more of an exploratory puzzle game, with beautiful landscapes, all sorts of animals to befriend, and the ability to glide and teleport. Honestly, this sounds like a soothing experience, much like another short and sweet puzzle game, Journey. You didn’t get the chance to sit on a dinosaur head as part of the gameplay in Journey though.
With all of the stress throughout the year, having the chance to play Omno on Switch, or on any console, sounds like a great way to enjoy a little bit of relief. Having a game lovingly created by an animator can make the gaming experience all the better. And with its partnership of Future Friends as the publisher, it makes you wonder what other indie games will be released under the Future Friends banner.
Good things, if Omno is anything to go by. If you can’t wait for Omno to come onto Switch on December 16, 2021, you can always pick it up on PC, Xbox One, or the PlayStation 4.
