More Starfield Details Will Be Shared Next Summer
Starfield has already been set to launch a year from today, but fans of the game are pleased to know that Bethesda plans to show more of what is to come before its release.
When Game Director and Executive Producer Todd Howard was asked about whether or not the game is going to feature any groundbreaking innovations, he said that he would much rather just show it, instead of merely talking about it.
“We prefer to just show it, which should be next summer,” he confirmed. “We are happy with the advancements we have been able to make—some of which you can see in the trailer shot in-game.”
Starfield fans are expecting the game to set a high bar for the next generation of action RPGs, which is backed by Howard’s plan of “full mod support” for the game—just like what they had done with previous releases. “Our modding community has been with us for 20 years,” he added. “We love what they do and hope to see more make a career out of it.”
To get on with the times, Howard also confirmed that they have applied expanded character creation options that will allow players to choose their own pronoun. “Really excited about what the team has done with character creation here,” Howard continued. “You can also pick your pronoun—he, she, they—and we have recorded all the relevant dialogue to support that choice.”
This Starfield information was first brought to light at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase that took place just this June. “In this next generation of role-playing games set amongst the stars, create any character you want and explore with unparalleled freedom,” Bethesda said at the time, giving fans their first real glimpse of what Starfield is going to be like at launch—scheduled for November 11, 2022.
