Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth Coming to Consoles

What the Heck’s a Lodoss?

That title looks like I had a stroke at my keyboard, but I didn’t. Earlier this year, Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth came out on PC. It is a side-scrolling Metroidvania with RPG elements. It is based on the Record of Lodoss War fantasy novel series.

While the novel’s main character is a man named Parn, the game’s main character is Deedlit, a high elf, who is one of Parn’s allies. The original series ran from 1988 to 1993, with a steady stream of anime, tabletop RPG books, and video games based on it throughout the 1990s. The game’s pixel art is beautiful and is reminiscent of classic Castlevania games.

Deedlit has a wide variety of skills, weapons, and abilities she can use in combat. She can use her bow in a twin-stick style of shooting. Her bow appears to be outfitted with different types of arrows that can be used in different situations.

The bow is not the only option though. She has a short sword for close combat and can use it at medium and low heights, as well as in sliding dashes. Deedlit will also gain the power to use devastating summons to help her in a fight. Outside of combat, Deedlit will have to solve puzzles and navigate crumbling passages to progress.

There only appear to be physical editions of the game for PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch, but is also supposed to be coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S digitally. Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth is out now on PC and will be coming to consoles on December 16th.
