MotionRec Is Launching Next Month on PS5 and Nintendo Switch

Record and Play in MotionRec

PLAYISM has announced that MotionRec, a tape recorder-themed puzzle action game developed by HANDSUM, will arrive on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 on April 2, 2026. The game first launched on Steam and will soon make its way to consoles, bringing its unusual puzzle mechanics to a wider audience.

MotionRec

MotionRec centers on a distinctive recording and playback system that allows players to capture their own movements and reuse them to solve puzzles. Players guide Rec, a robot tasked with recording the remnants of civilization, through a devastated world filled with mechanical structures and environmental challenges. By recording actions such as walking, jumping, and climbing, players can replay those movements to interact with the environment in creative ways.

This mechanic turns each level into a puzzle that relies on timing and experimentation. A recorded movement can act almost like a temporary path or tool, helping Rec reach areas that would otherwise remain inaccessible. For example, players can record upward movements to climb higher terrain or bridge gaps that seem impossible at first glance.

The stages also include special environmental elements that encourage players to combine recordings with stage gimmicks to create more complex solutions. Careful planning and creative thinking become essential as the puzzles grow more challenging.

As players progress, they must learn to master the MotionRec ability to navigate a world shaped by machines and ruins. Each level introduces new obstacles that require clever use of the recording mechanic, gradually expanding the possibilities of how movement can be used to solve puzzles and explore the environment.

So, do you think you have what it takes to crack these intriguing puzzles? Find out when the game comes out on PS5 and Switch this April. Or, check it out right now on Steam.
