EDM Artist Steve Aoki to Perform Sonic-Themed Event This Month

Sonic’s Got Some Great Music, And Steve Aoki Will Prove It

Sonic the Hedgehog is a franchise in love with its own soundtrack – and for good reason. The franchise is famous for having one of the strongest soundtracks in the gaming space, consistently across every release. Yes, even with the bad games. “His World” is a masterpiece and you will not sway my nostalgia. Nor Steve Aoki’s apparently, thanks to this new concert.

Anyway, SEGA has put their adoration for the game’s soundtrack on display several times before. But this? This is one of the few times that Sonic fans will be able to see it live. They’ve already released a behind-the-scenes video for an upcoming digital concert, and from the sound of things, it’s one that everyone involved is looking forward to.

November 30th, which also happens to be Steve Aoki’s birthday, is the date the concert goes live. SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog Youtube and Twitch channels are the place to watch. The hour-long event will dash through plenty of classic and mordern-era tracks, as well as a few original songs from Aoki himself. The behind-the-scenes video shows off some extensive greenscreen work, with the digital environment letting the music flow through classic Sonic locations like Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant Zone. It’ll kick off on 8pm GMT that day, so mark your calendars!

The best Sonic game is definitely the OG Sonic the Hedgehog,” Aoki says in the behind-the-scenes video. “That’s the game that started it all for me. That’s the game I was most obsessed with, and I just remember putting it in the Genesis console and just rocking out.
