The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Just Got Rated for Next-Gen Consoles

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s PEGI Classification Sparks Speculations That Game Is Launching Soon

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has just been rated for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 consoles, ahead of its anticipated launch scheduled for later this year. These next-gen ports are being developed externally by Saber Interactive, instead of the franchise creators themselves, CD Projekt. The ports were classified today by European ratings body, PEGI, while a similar rating for America’s ESRB remains unavailable at this time.

Now that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has gotten its classification, the franchise’s fans has been sent into a frenzy with expectations that official news about the launch will be provided sooner than later. However, a rep from CD Projekt has confirmed that they have nothing new to announce at the moment.

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are new platforms for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt—so the game had to be submitted for age classification on these platforms specifically,” the rep said. “This is standard procedure and the date mentioned on PEGI’s website is the rating’s issue date. Release date is yet to be announced.”

Although nothing about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s official release date has been written in stone, this recent news is welcome information for fans who have long been hoping to be able to play the new versions of the game sometime this year. After all, CDPR did previously admit that the game could possibly be launched in 2022 due to certain circumstances.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s new-gen versions are expected to take advantage of the consoles’ increased horsepower, which will make the game look and run better. Fans are also excited to try out all the previously released expansion that will be included with the new-gen editions, in addition to new content that will be introduced in Netflix’s popular The Witcher TV series.
