Double Fine Have Announced That Psychonauts 2 Has Gone Gold Before Its Official Release
Psychonauts made its debut in 2005 on the Xbox, PC and PlayStation 2 and has held a space in the hearts of many. Double Fine hopes to reignite the nostalgia as Psychonauts 2 was announced for this year following some unfortunate delays. Double Fine was acquired by Microsoft in 2019 and the partnership has clearly come to fruition as Double Fine announced via Twitter that Psychonauts 2 has gone gold ahead of its planned release.
Psychonauts 2 will release on 25th August 2021. Psychonauts 2 will release on PC via the Windows Store and Steam while PlayStation users can get it on the PlayStation 4, and later on PlayStation 5 with backwards compatibility! On the Xbox consoles, the game can be enjoyed as a Day One special via Microsoft’s Game Pass, the company’s popular subscription service.
When a game in the industry hits ‘gold’, it means that the game’s development is complete and it is ready to be sold. It also means that the release cannot be delayed any further. Simply put, Psychonauts 2 is ready for its planned launch.
Psychonauts 2 will combine unique missions, conspiracies and Double Fine’s slapstick humor to bring a modern platform-adventure game to life. The game will have many customizable abilities and a nostalgic cinematic style. In Psychonauts 2, Raz is at his first day on the job and it’s about to get quite wild. From the released footage thus far, Raz is visiting some crazy worlds and has been caught in a sinister, evil plot as Maligula is going to be resurrected, and Raz must stop it.
