Pathfinder: Kingmaker Sells One Million Copies, Unveils Sequel Launch Trailer

The King Paves the Way For the Righteous

A while ago, we declared that Pathfinder: Kingmaker would bring back the neglected CRPG genre from the abyss the rise of BioWare and other developers of more streamlined, less pen and paper-y RPGs had plunged it into. Three years later, it would appear that the video game-playing public agrees with us, as Pathfinder: Kingmaker has officially hit one million copies sold.

If that weren’t impressive enough on its own, the developers have also used this event as a springboard to share the launch trailer for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, the upcoming sequel to Pathfinder: Kingmaker. This atmospheric introduction to the gameplay and dark setting of the new title has us counting down the days until Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous hits storefronts.

Both the sales milestone and the launch trailer are certainly worth taking a look at, especially if you’re already a fan of Pathfinder games. In general, it appears that if you enjoyed Pathfinder: Kingmaker, you’ll probably enjoy the sequel, which massively ups the stakes and puts you at the head of what may be a battle for all existence.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous tasks you with venturing into the corrupted Worldwound, a rotten abscess on the face of the setting, to take on the demons that lurk within. Even an evil-aligned player will still find themselves battling the nightmares that wish to spread out across the world.

At the head of a crusade, you’ll be tasked with managing companions, gathering allies, and trying to save the world… or focusing on goals that can only be achieved in this hellish place. Either way, keep a careful eye on anyone you allow into your confidence. Everyone has secrets, and some of them may spell doom for your crusade.

Beyond that, the game also features an overarching mystery: what, exactly, led to your player ending up in the middle of a crusade? Unlike Pathfinder: Kingmaker, which gave you a little introduction explaining how you got here, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous plunges you right into the action and tasks you with figuring out why. Best of luck figuring it out.
