Oddworld: Soulstorm Will Be Making Its Way to Xbox Consoles
Oddworld: Soulstorm, which is the newest installment in the Oddworld Inhabitants’ franchise, is officially heading to Xbox consoles. This game is a direct sequel to Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, which was released to the gaming community in 2014. This development is in the heels of the game’s launch on PlayStation and PC in April.
Oddworld: Soulstorm is a full remake of the 1998’s Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus, which, in turn is a remake of 1997’s Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. Although a lot of Oddworld’s fans were quite impressed with the remake’s visuals and cinematic sequences, it did have multiple bugs and issues that upset the action. Oddworld Inhabitants has since released patches to fix the problems and fine-tuned the gameplay. The devs have released seven updates so far, each of which brought with it bug fixes, adjustments to level balance and design, as well as quality of life improvements. “The version that players can download right now is one the studio is proud of and believes they will enjoy,” the studio wrote in its Xbox announcement.
There was no further information on how the Xbox versions will be different from the one that PC and PS players currently have, but some details can be obtained by taking a look at Microsoft’s specifications. The Xbox One is slightly less powerful than the PS4, and, with that said, it stands to reason that the game played on the former console will have lower resolution visuals. The Xbox Series X, however, is slightly more powerful than the PS5, so Oddworld: Soulstorm may be able to run on a native 4K resolution. Xbox Series S is rated somewhere in the middle of last-gen and next-gen specifications, so fans are expecting that it will deliver an all-around good gaming experience.
Oddworld: Soulstorm will follow protagonist Abe as he rescues the other members of his race from the Glukkons and their blatant use of labor exploitation. Abe, a Mudokon, can scavenge supplies, craft weapons, solve puzzles, as well as arm other Mudokons.
