Black Myth: Wukong Releases New Gameplay Trailer and It Looks Gorgeous

New Sekiro-Like Game to Release in 2023

The latest Black Myth: Wukong gameplay trailer has been released, and it looks like a gorgeous Sekiro-like game in a Chinese mythology setting.  Here’s a closer look at what exactly the game is and what new gameplay details have been revealed.

First off, the engine of the game is revealed to be Unreal Engine 5.  With the trailer running at 60 fps and 4k, it is also revealed that the game will support Nvidia ray-tracing and DLSS as well Dolby Atmos.  The in-game animations look amazing – from the realistic snow particle effects to the white lightning released over an ice lake.

On the gameplay side of things, we do have confirmation of stealth attacks: the trailer starts off with Wukong sneaking up and knocking an enemy off a cliff.  This opens up the possibility of a pure stealth path through the game, although if the epic boss fights are anything to go by, combat will probably be the main focus of the game.

The main defensive moves of Wukong include an i-frame dash where he leaves a mirage clone of himself behind, a roll, creating a ring of fire around himself, and climbing onto his stick.  The first two moves are staples of action games like the Dark Souls series, while the second two are unique.  The ring of fire move allows Wukong to draw a circle of flames around him, which seems to repulse any enemies from attacking.  The second allows him to avoid any ground-based attacks or projectiles, as shown by him evading a dragon’s lightning bombardment.

The main offensive tool of Wukong is his staff.  In the game trailer, he is shown performing two special moves: a flurry of blows and an extending jab attack.  Wukong is shown attacking no less than 16 bosses – and if the trailer is anything to go by, the game will be filled to the brim with epic bosses to challenge.
