Quake Revitalized Edition Teased by Leaked Quakecon Schedule

Exciting News Announced at Quakecon

The schedule for Quakecon 2021 has been released today, and with it, a big surprise.  A “Revitalized Edition” of Quake has been leaked in a now-deleted event description in the schedule of Quakecon 2021.

Although the description has now been replaced by a simple “…”, the “Let’s Talk Quake” event on Thursday, August 19th, read “Quake is back, in this special stream John Linneman from Digital Foundry talks to Jerk Gustafsson of Machine Games about the title’s iconic legacy and what it meant to both of them. The pair will also discuss the additional content Machine Games have contributed to this revitalized edition.”  This could very well explain why Quake 1 is not on sale, despite a current Quake sale ongoing on Steam.

In addition to Quake, Quakecon will also explore more about the exciting new shooter Deathloop, an upcoming game by Bethesda and Arkane Lyon.  Deathloop is a game where you play as an assassin stuck in a time loop.  You must use your knowledge of previous runs to manipulate events and eliminate all your targets.  The game has gone gold recently, and will release on September 14.  Moreover, Quakecon will feature a Doom Eternal Studio Update, where two devs will bring players up to date with developments in Doom Eternal.

Like last year, Quakecon will be an all-virtual event streamed on the Bethesda Twitch channel.  This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Quake franchise, so the show will start with a special segment celebrating 25 years of Quake.  In addition, segments of more non-Quake Bethesda games will be featured, such as a “The Elder Scrolls Online” speedrun and a “Fallout 76” end game guide.
