A Plague Tale: Requiem Trailer Revealed at E3

Aw, Rats

About a year and a half ago, we heard tell that a follow up to A Plague Tale: Innocence was in the works. While developer Asobo Studio would neither confirm nor deny that, it turns out that it was true. Yesterday, Xbox revealed our first look at A Plague Tale: Requiem. Aside from “requiem” being the most generic subtitle in history for sequels, we should be looking forward to this game. If you have played the first game, you understand why. If you have not, I highly recommend it. A Plague Tale: Innocence is available on Xbox Game Pass and is very good. You can trust your ol’ pal Zane.

A Plague Tale: Requiem

One of the main threats from Innocence is returning in Requiem; the infinite, unending flood of rats. By the end of the first game, the rats become a tool rather than an obstacle. However, that seems to no longer be the case in the upcoming game. We a tidal wave of rats consuming the alleys and streets in this trailer. Our heroine Amicia and her brother Hugo are also returning, but this time, she has upgraded. Instead of just a sling that was the primary weapon and tool in Innocence, she now uses a crossbow.

It remains to be seen whether Amicia’s crossbow means that the new game will be more action oriented or if it will just be an evolution in the gameplay and puzzle-solving mechanics. There is no official release date, but A Plague Tale: Requiem will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch, and will be on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
