NEO: The World Ends With You Demo is Now Available on Switch and PS4

Why Did Square Enix Save It For After E3?

Right after The World Ends With You anime ended, Square Enix revealed a demo for the upcoming NEO: The World Ends With You game. Reportedly, this title is a direct sequel to The World Ends With You anime rather than the first game, which may explain why Square Enix chose this moment to make the NEO: The World Ends With You demo available. However, it does still raise the question of why the developers sat on it throughout E3. Surely one of the largest gaming events of the year would have made for a good platform to announce the date of the demo, at the very least. At any rate, the demo’s release was announced over Twitter, and it is now available for download on Nintendo Switch or PS4.

The demo includes the beginning of the game and will allow players to explore several areas, experience the new team battle system and the returning Badges system, and try out new abilities. Even better, it looks like players will be able to carry over save data from the demo to the full game, meaning that anyone who downloads the demo is getting a leg up on the competition. More importantly, you’ll also get a chance to meet the new characters and hopefully play as Sho Minamimoto, and let’s be honest, isn’t that what we’re really excited about? Neku can wait for the inevitable late-game plot twist. We demand Pi-Face now.

A new trailer was also released in the wake of the TWEWY anime. Dubbed the Final Trailer, probably in reference to The World Ends With You Final Remix, this video shows off some striking visuals, fast-paced combat, and excellent remixes from the game’s soundtrack. We know we’re excited to get our hands on NEO: TWEWY. Are you?

NEO: The World Ends With You will release on July 27th, 2021, for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. A PC port will be available on the Epic Games Store this summer.
