Pick Stuff Up and Break Your Enemies in High-Octane Telekinetic Action
Another day, another stunning Scarlet Nexus trailer. This isn’t the first time we’ve gotten a look at Scarlet Nexus’ combat system, but it is a great showcase of how the action works. In this one-and-a-half-minute-long video, protagonist Kasane Randall is shown running through a huge, ominous museum, fighting off monsters that look every bit as bizarre and otherworldly as we’ve come to expect from this game. Better yet, the trailer draws attention to how Kasane’s power of Psychokinesis–the ability to move things without touching them–is being implemented into gameplay. Sound effects, glowy visuals, and button prompts combine to make it clear which objects you can grab and what you can do with them. The result is basically a playable anime cutscene. We kinda love it.
The video also shows Kasane using a variety of attacks that draw on her bonds with other characters, all of which look very cool in action. The sudden changes in camera angle when Kasane is throwing the chandelier around are slick and make it clear what’s currently being controlled. The visuals are all-around fantastic and it’s easy to keep track of the battlefield, which is more than some games in this genre can say. Even the conversations with your teammates that play mid-battle are pretty nice with solid voice acting, though we don’t think anyone needed to be told that getting set on fire is a bad thing.
All in all, this trailer is an exciting glimpse into Scarlet Nexus’ brainpunk future. We can’t wait to see more of this dystopic world.
Scarlet Nexus will be available on 25th June, 2021 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. You can preorder it now in Standard, Deluxe, and Guardian editions for an array of extra goodies.
