Drew Murray Leaves The Initiative for Insomniac
Co-founder and lead designer at The Initiative, Drew Murray has officially announced his move from the Xbox Game Studio back to Insomniac Games, the team he was with prior to The Initiative. While Murray has been with The Initiative for a while now, he was previously involved with Insomniac Games where he worked on titles such as Resistance: Fall of Man. Insomniac Games’ recently released Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available for PS4 and PS5 right now.
“I guess ten years, five games, and six job titles just wasn’t enough. I’m excited to be rejoining many friends and former colleagues at Insomniac Games as a Principal Designer,” said Drew Murray in a recent Twitter post that featured a selfie of a very quizzical-looking Principal Designer. “That takes me to my seventh job title; now I just need to work some days and make some games, right?” Considering Drew Murray has been part of the Insomniac team so many years ago, it feels like a full-circle moment for this veteran to return.
“It’s been extraordinary working shoulder-to-shoulder with such a talented and experienced team, many of whom are great friends now. Mystery surrounded the project when I joined the studio (The Initiative) I didn’t know what kind of game it was, I didn’t know it was going to be Perfect Dark, and I didn’t know anyone on the team. Two years later, we announced the franchise with a trailer that still gives me goosebumps. Most importantly, the team has the vision and talent to knock the game and franchise out of the park.”
“My silver lining to all this is that I’m excited to join the screaming masses on Perfect Dark launch day to experience the game!” Are you excited to see what Insomniac Games has cooking up or are you just hyped for The Initiative to release Perfect Dark? Let us know in the comments below!
