Halo, Crysis, and a Grappling Hook
Several months ago, developer TwistedRed unveiled their upcoming game, Exomecha. It is a really pretty game, but looks a lot like we have seen before, gameplay and design-wise. You got everyone dressed up in sweet cyber-armor like in Crysis and a vehicle that TwistedRed clearly just wanted to be the Warthog from Halo. Another important tool in the players’ arsenal is the grappling hook, which can be used to sip to vehicles in a very Just Cause way. If striking similarities to other games do not bother you, then you will probably really enjoy Exomecha.
There is a ton of action to be seen in this gameplay trailer. Most of the skirmishes take place on a beach, where players shoot each other, blow each other up, and do sneaky executions that enemies apparently just allow. There are also a variety of mechs and vehicles to tear it up in. In addition to the totally-not-a-Warthog, there is an assault helicopter players can pilot, as well as a tank and a spider-bot. There is also a large mech that players can use, because nothing beats a good old fashion giant robot fight. The game physics also allow players to surf on missiles. I mean, why not? If that is not enough, you can control mech-dragons too.
We all like a mindless shooter now and then, but hopefully TwistedRed will show off some more depth to Exomecha in the near future. Exomecha will be available in August for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. You can sign up for the beta now.
