Enjoy These PlayStation Plus Titles in March 2021

Have a Great Time, But Read the Fine Print

March’s free titles are Final Fantasy VII Remake, Remnant: From the Ashes, Maquette, and Farpoint. Beginning March 2nd, PlayStation Plus subscribers can look forward to downloading and playing through these great games for free. The biggest by far is probably Final Fantasy VII Remake, but that game also comes with a big asterisk attached: as PS Plus subscribers technically do not own the game, a free upgrade to Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade will not be happening. That means no free PS5 upgrade unless you actually bought Remake. Sorry, guys. At least we know the PS4 version is solid.

If you’re not feeling a Final Fantasy game after that little reveal, don’t fret–Remnant: From the Ashes has similar themes mixed with brutal, Soulsborne-style combat. Crave survival gameplay in a dark world? Or maybe exhilarating battle mechanics while fighting horrific monsters? Either way, Remnant is the game for you. Or, if you’re done with fantasy battles for a while, why not check out the mind-bending puzzles and brightly colored world of Maquette? A first-person puzzler inspired by nesting dolls and focused on the manipulation of size and scale sounds like a neat challenge to us. Especially if you’re already interested in exploring worlds with very different rules from our own. Just don’t be afraid to consult a walkthrough or the PS5’s Game Help if you get stuck.

The final March title, Farpoint, is a free-roaming, first-person PS VR shooter set on a hostile alien planet. PlayStation describes it as “Optimised for the PlayStation VR Aim controller and fully playable with a DualShock wireless controller”, so definitely consider it if you’ve got the right equipment. It has a variety of Co-op and Versus game modes, so that’s cool. Also, Destruction AllStars is still available from last month, but it and Maquette are PS5 only.

PlayStation Plus is available on PS4, PS5, and other PlayStation Plus platforms. Currently, a 12-month subscription runs at $60.
