Everybody Needs Some Adorable Pikachu in Their Lives
Pokemon can’t seem to stop hitting it out of the park this year, which is good, because we all dearly need something to cling to right now. If that something is Pokemon, then you’re in luck because they have branded masks, exclusive trading cards, a new movie announced, an important anniversary coming up, and now ASMR videos. For those of you who don’t recognize the term, ASMR stands for ‘autonomous sensory meridian response’ and refers to that tingly sensation in your neck and scalp that you can get when experiencing placid or calming sights and sounds. Sometimes that means listening to people whisper, sometimes it means watching people do origami, and sometimes it means listening to and watching an adorable cat-sized yellow mouse scamper around a CGI patio.
Even those who don’t get much out of ASMR will still be able to enjoy this video, because for anyone who’s ever wanted a real Pokemon, watching Pikachu run around, play with a ball, and take a nap in the sunshine is absolutely amazing. Pokemon battles may be the main appeal of the franchise, but there’s something really nice about seeing Pokemon run around and behave like real animals. Yes, this CGI Pikachu isn’t anywhere near as realistic as the one in Detective Pikachu. We dare you to nitpick the video when you’re immersed in the sound of its little footsteps and the quiet ‘pi pi pi’ sounds it makes while running. The ghostly and huggable Mimikyu also makes a quick appearance, if you prefer cute spooks to cute squeaks.
