Crash 4 Artbook Seemingly Hints at a New Spyro Game

Looks Like We May Be Getting Another Fan Favorite Back

Despite the fact that Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot were created by different developers, the two have a lot in common. They’re both platforming games featuring talking animals, they both have huge appeal to nineties kids as well as younger audiences, and they’ve both fallen out of the limelight I recent years. Both games have historically been very popular, but not counting remasters it’s been a long time since we got a new game in either franchise… is what I’d be saying a few months ago, before the release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, but if the Easter egg below is anything to go by, Crash may be expecting a friend to join him soon.

Found in the Crash 4 artbook, the image shows a well-hidden Spyro in a futuristic city. It could easily be seen as a simple Easter egg, but the caption itself says it’s a hint at Spyro.

Of course, this is just conjecture and will be until we receive an official announcement, but with The Game Awards – where many new and upcoming games are announced, including this year’s possible reveal of a long-rumored Silent Hill reboot – the perfect time is just days away, so keep your eyes peeled for confirmation soon.

Spyro

So what does the rest of the image tell us? Nothing much – Spyro has always had a fantasy bent but while such a huge departure in genre isn’t unheard of, it’s definitely unlikely. The most probable explanation is that the image of Spyro is just meant as a fun Easter egg hunting at a future game, and not a hint at a new setting for the franchise. Whatever the case, we’ll need to wait (hopefully not too long) to find out
