Black Ops: Cold War Ray Tracing May Be Problematic
Many console fans have encountered issues with the performance of Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War and apparently there’s an easy fix. People who are playing the latest Call of Duty on Xbox Series X or PS5 may consider disabling ray tracing if they’re encountering performance issues as several gamers have identified this next-gen feature as the cause of their problems. Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War is available right now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC.
While Call of Duty fans playing Black Ops: Cold War on PC may not encounter these performance issues which include problematic frame rates that cause a stutter effect that is particularly annoying to fans of the multiplayer. Players are reporting that disabling raytracing on next-gen consoles fixes the problem, but it’s likely that Treyarch is working on a fix for this issue in an upcoming patch. Normally stutters are attributable to lag caused by internet connection issues, but it looks like Black Ops: Cold War has a cheaper fix.
Considering ray tracing is a selling feature of next-gen consoles to a lot of gamers, the fact that disabling it in Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War fixes several performance issues isn’t a good sign.
