This Ain’t a Scene…
Apparently, a new game mode or way to play the game is coming to Borderlands 3. It is not a story DLC like we have seen for every Borderlands title thus far. In an interview with Gamespot, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford is hesitant to call it a new game mode per se, but it is officially named Arms Race. Whatever this really is, Pitchford is also hesitant to give us any clues as to what the Borderlands 3 Arms Race mode entails. He will say that it is not a battle royale mode.
Ruling out a BR, the only other things he will say about it is that it will take place in its own designated location and that it will feel like “a totally new game”. That is a lot for Arms Race to live up to. As far as it having its own location, that is not a big surprise. The Circles of Slaughter and the Takedowns are somewhat different from the regular game style and have their own locations. In Pitchford’s interview with Gamespot, he said “Our goal with Arms Race is to make the gun game in our game of millions of guns really matter.” If you recall, early Borderlands 3 trailers touted something like a bazillion guns, not that Vault Hunters have enough room in their backpacks for that many.
We only need to wait a little longer for the official reveal of Arms Race. Perhaps it will launch alongside the Skill Tree DLC that was revealed a little while ago. Borderlands 3 is available on PC, Stadia, PS4, and Xbox One, and will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X at a later date.
