The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Will Be Coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X

No Need for a Second Purchase Either!

With CD Projekt Red busy with finishing up Cyberpunk 2077, there is no new Witcher game in sight. That does not mean that the series will be left in the gaming generation of yesterday. Earlier today, CD Projekt Red announced that they will be bringing the most recent main-series Witcher game to the next generation of consoles. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC… again. This port is said to be taking advantage of the new consoles’ power for an even better experience.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

CD Projekt Red says that this new makeover for The Witcher 3 will include faster load times as well as ray-tracing for the base game and all expansions. The best part is that owners of the game now will get a free upgrade to the next-gen version of the game. Since there is simultaneously always and never a next-gen PC, it can stand to reason that the PC version will just get an update or something. If you have been putting off this game, it will be available on these next-gen consoles as a standalone game, meaning you do not have to buy the PS4 or Xbox One version to own it on the newer consoles.

Flash forward however long until The Witcher 3 comes out on PS5 and Xbox Series X, if you already own it on either of these platforms, you can start a brand new adventure or you can continue your game; save files will be able to be transferred over. If you are planning to switch from PlayStation to Xbox or vice versa, it is unclear at this point if these functions also carryover across these console gaps. It is also unclear if The Witcher 3 will be on PS5 and Xbox Series X at launch or not. We will just have to wait for more information. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, and will be out at a later date for PS5 and Xbox Series X.
