POW – Super Mario All-Stars Is Now on Nintendo Switch Online

Hey Now, You Got All-Stars

As if by magic, nearly all the major Mario releases of days past have been announced to be on their way to Nintendo Switch. Yesterday, Nintendo announced that Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, and Super Mario Bros. 35 are headed to a Switch near you. However, if you want the really, really classic Mario games, you may want to check out Super Mario All-Stars if you haven’t already. Super Mario All-Stars is a compilation of Super Mario Bros. 1, 2, 3, and The Lost Levels. You got like three and a half classic Mario games all at once.

Super Mario All-Stars

Super Mario All-Stars is not exactly new. In fact it’s already pretty old. The games that it is made up of are old and the compilation itself first came out in 1993 and then again on Wii in 2010. Now again, for Mario’s 35th anniversary. Super Mario Bros. and The Lost Levels are as classic as they get with very linear progression, but warp pipes can be used to skip large parts of the game. Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3 introduced new elements like picking up and throwing items and enemies, the use of different characters, and a world map.

These are real games for real gamers, so if you want an old school challenge on a modern platform, pick up Super Mario All-Stars. Oh yeah, and it’s out on Nintendo Switch Online now, or at least it should be. At the moment this is being written, it is not showing up on Nintendo’s website.
