12 Minutes Reveals Voice Cast

Get Ready for a Deadly Dozen

Picture the scene. You’re having a perfectly normal evening with your wife, but things go downhill when a cop breaks your door down, accuses your wife of murder, then kills her.

You wake up 12 minutes earlier. You know exactly what’s going to happen, and you know you have to stop it.

TIme loops aren’t new to gaming, but we’ve never seen one with such a restrictive timeframe to work with. Twelve minutes to uncover the truth, solve the mystery, and maybe save a life.

No pressure, right?

Despite the small scale of the game, it’s managed to attract a couple of big names, with James McAvoy (IT: Chapter 2, X-Men), Daisy Ridley (Star Wars) and Willem Dafoe (Spider-man, Beyond: Two Souls) joining the cast.

Celebrity voice actors aren’t a new thing in video gaming by a long shot. Big names like Ellen Page, Sigourney Weaver, and Hayden Panettiere have all lent their voices or likeness to video games, but generally these have all been big-budget numbers, or else an adaptation of a movie or TV series the performer appears in. Having such big names in a relatively small-scale game is unusual and, while actors sometimes choose to work on lower-quality projects, getting a big name can sometimes open a project up to a new audience, especially since all three of the announced stars have made names for themselves in some of the biggest franchises of the last few decades.

Ultimately we don’t know how well 12 Minutes will be received, but it’s definitely an interesting concept that has a lot of potential, if it’s handled well. The short timeframe is going to test patience and push the player’s mind to the limit.
