CD Projekt Red Isn’t Putting Cyberpunk 2077 on Game Pass at Launch
According to CD Projekt Red’s Lead PR Manager Radek Grabowski, there are no existing plans to put Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Although The Witcher 3 is available to play on the extensive game pass lineup, CD Projekt Red currently isn’t planning to put their next big title on the gaming subscription service. The Witcher 3 didn’t come to Game Pass for a couple of years after release so it’s possible that it will take years for Game Pass fans to get their hands on Cyberpunk 2077. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes Xbox Live Gold and access to the Game Pass library on Xbox and PC for $15 per month.
When a Twitter user asked CD Projekt Red if Microsoft could secure Cyberpunk 2077 for a day one Game Pass release and what that kind of deal would cost, Radek Grabowski responded: You have to pick another example, Jeff. No Game Pass plans for Cyberpunk 2077. While there are no plans to bring the upcoming CD Projekt Red title to the Game Pass subscription service, it’s likely the developers had no intent to bring The Witcher 3 to Game Pass ahead of launch either, but now it’s one of the finest RPG’s in the library.
Xbox Game Studios has been acquiring several big developers such as Obsidian Double Fine and Ninja Theory, it’s unlikely that Europe’s biggest independent studio has plans to join the Xbox umbrella any more than their Cyberpunk 2077 plans for Game Pass. PlatinumGames’ Atsushi Inaba recently went on record to say he plans to remain independent and doesn’t plan to join the Xbox Game Studios umbrella either, but stranger things have happened. The successful Game Pass title, Sea of Thieves, recently reached a community of 15 million people partly thanks to the subscription service so online games may benefit significantly from ending up on Game Pass.
